College Essentials: Dorm Room

Image
Seeing how many of you enjoyed the school supply essentials for college based on my opinion, I have decided to share with you all what I found helpful in my dorm rooms and college apartment. 1. Whiteboards, Cork boards, and Magnet boards - I found each one of these to be very helpful. With the college handing out flyers, notes to remind me of upcoming things, and more I was able to stay on track by having all of my important things in one place. 2. Calendars - Having a planner is good, but with a calendar that hangs on the wall or even a whiteboard calendar is a great idea. For me, planners would get lost in my backpack and then everything I wrote would get forgotten. With a calendar on my wall, I am reminded to write things on it and look at things coming up. I also feel like calendars are a good way to see whether you are balancing school with social time. I like to write school schedules in one color, due dates in another, and social time in another. This will mak...

College Essentials: School Supplies

So in grade school they provide you with a list of supplies. This list is pages long and you never use everything, but you buy it anyway. I want to share what I have used as far as school supplies so far in my college life and how each supply can be important. If you enjoy this please give me a comment and I will post another one about supplies and decorations for dorm rooms. 1. Paper, Paper, and More Paper - Whether you have a notebook, loose leaf, or any other type, you will definitely need a place for notes. 2. Pens & Pencils - Mechanical pencils are definitely the way to go. Classrooms most likely do not have sharpeners and you do not want to miss out on notes or get behind. Teachers talk fast in college and do not go back. - Pens are also important because some professors prefer pen instead of pencil on papers and such. Blue and Black are perfect for this. Red will be helpful in your English classes. If you though peer editing happened a lot in high school, you hav...

Babysitting: String Lazer Maze

Image
Babysitting can be stressful and overwhelming, but with great activities planned you can avoid this. An activity I just tried with the family I care for was a string lazer maze. All you need is string and masking tape or any tape that is paint safe, you do not want to ruin their walls. Use the string to create any patterns, low and high, for the kids to climb through. After the kids get used to the game, you can time them, create rules ( you can only crawl twice, touch the string and restart). This kept the kids busy for hours and it is super easy to put together. They can even help you create the maze. I would definitely suggest this and feel free to comment to let me know how it worked for you. I would love to hear your ideas on how to make this even more fun for the kids.

Hungry, but No Money?

Hi readers, So many of us college students have huge appetites due to stress, boredom, or many other reasons. If you are trying to save money on food and just do not want to cook, I recommend Pocket Points. this is an app made especially for students in school. All you have to do in open the app while on campus in your classroom and then lock your phone. The longer you stay off of your phone, the more points you can accumulate. These points can get you a free pizza at papa johns, a free chicken sandwich at Wendy's, and many other deals depending on your location. This not only helps you afford going out to eat with your busy schedule, but allows motivates you to stay off your phone in class. It is a win win app. I use it all the time and it has saved me a bunch of money. I definitely recommend that you try this out. Lexie
